Questions

Conversation after I picked Paige up from day care. . .I was telling her I had to go to the grocery store.

Paige, "Do you need eggs?"

Mom, "No."

Paige, "Do you need milk?"

Mom, "No."

Paige, "Did you get gas today?"

Mom, "No, I did that yesterday and filled the car up."

I answered her and realized my 3 year old was being a mom.

Big wheels

I now have a big kid at my house. No little sissy trike for us anymore. Thanks to Aunt Bobbi for passing down the bike! The training wheels were put on about 24 hours ago and I think she's rode about 10 miles already.

Fishin'

We have a lovely little fishing hole about 2 miles from our house. It took $100 bucks of fishing gear before we could enjoy it, but once we made it there we had a great afternoon. Not every man can look as good holding a pink Barbie pole as my Cowboy! Paige didn't even bat an eye when he started cutting nightcrawlers in half with his knife. I did and gagged. My preferred fishing style is to eat a bunch of snacks, take a nap, or read a book and soak up some sun. I don't bait my own hook and I am not cleaning the catch. I will cook it though.

One man's trash. . .

So it was the annual city wide rummage sale in Bowman today; which my friend Justin now has deemed 'Women's Opener' and compared it to deer season. He couldn't understand why there were women, fully dressed w/makeup on, circling his house at 7:00 wondering if our sale was ready to start yet. (and no it wasn't, clearly marked as an 8am opener.) I laughed and said its no different than men who get up at dawn to drive around for 6 hours (in camo) to begin deer season at noon that first day. Its just what you do.

Anyway, Sarah and I had a great sale today. We made over $700 profit, ca-ching! The guys (husbands) had the nerve to call it crap. The overall total pretty much shut that up :) We both worked very hard for the last week or so pricing hundreds of little clothes, etc. and its nice to know it was worth it. The bonus, the little bit we didn't sell is getting picked up by her mom who is taking it to Bismarck to sell in her own sale. We might make even make more; and we don't have anything left. Great morning followed by a 2 hour nap for all. A good day.

July 4th Weekend

We had a fun filled weekend, with my (gulp) 10 year class reunion that began on Friday. We had 29 out of 46 graduates attend, so that was pretty good. I got to see quite a few people I haven't seen in years and we had a nice time. On Saturday, my classmates and I gathered on the typical small town float--a flat bed with some balloons to be pulled down main street. The pickup even got backed into and majorly dented up while we were in route.

After the parade, we went to the Conner family annual BBQ. The small ones played in the sprinkler, and enjoyed the bouncy toys.

The afternoon led to a 2.5 hour nap for Paige and I! Having fun is tiring. We headed to the park to watch fireworks over the lake. It was a beautiful day and the evening was perfect for watching the fireworks.

Overheard on Vacation

"It's sooo beauutiful"--Peanut said after we pointed out the Mall of America.

"Mom, why are you talking to the robot?"--after P. saw me talking to the drive up speaker at Dunn Brothers and McDonalds. Kudos to us that we don't frequent drive through restaurants--oh wait--that's because I live in a small town :)

"Mom, why are we going to uncle Donald's house?"--after P. heard me and Gramma saying we were getting breakfast at McDonalds. Apparently he's in the family now.

"AIRPLANE!"--about 17 thousand times whenever we saw an airplane flying over head during the last 8 days and 1,400 miles. There are a lot of airplanes that leave Minneapolis/St. Paul. A lot.

We arrived home a few hours ago from our vacation. Home and Daddy/Cowboy never looked so good. Its fun to be gone, but very nice to be home. More blogs and pictures to follow soon. I need to screen the 300+ pictures.

i.am.obsessed

I am an obsessive reader. Those who knew me in the Harry Potter days will confirm this. I discovered that series in college; after it had been out for about 4 books. I decided they were more fun to read than accounting textbooks. I was obsessed and pre-ordered the new books so they would arrive on my doorstep (since I was far away from Barnes and Noble) and read late into the night so I could finish the new book as fast as I could. Because I HAD to know what was going to happen.

Harry Potter ended, life goes on. Then I discovered the Twilight series. I had tried to read it once before and couldn't get into it. I liked the movie and tried again last week. I have been obsessed--ignoring my child and my husband so I can read about vampires. Wow, that's sad. I don't know why I like to read about this really eccentric world--probably because its the opposite of banking :) However, I have finished the last book tonight so life can go on because I now know how Bella and Edward end up. Those who have read it understand. Those of you who haven't--run to the bookstore and start. You'll be addicted like I was. You'll want to run away with a vampire. But thankfully I finished the books before vacation begins on Saturday; otherwise I would have to had to make Mom drive and ignore her and Paige for 6 hours so I could finish!
